Becraft Scholars

Catholic schools are perhaps the greatest legacy of the American Catholic Church. We are proud to partner with Fulcrum Foundation in founding Becraft Scholars, a scholarship based equity program for Catholic schools in Western Washington.

This scholarship-based equity program is named after a young Black nun who founded the country's first Catholic school for black children in 1827.

Every year, the Becraft Scholars Program recruits cohorts of 12 kindergartners and their families. After the children and their families have been recruited, the scholarship program commits to giving $5,000 annual scholarship for nine years.

This program gives priority to Black and African American families in an effort to improve school policies and to build a culture of inclusion for all students.
